The Chapel is now closed for the 2024 Season! Thanks for your Support!
Dear Friends of the Holloway Memorial Chapel:
We have successfully completed our 2022 summer season of worship services and want to thank each and every one of you for your support as we returned from 2 years of closures.
It was a wonderful summer! We hosted many inspirational speakers with very special messages. Many traveled to this special chapel with complete gratitude for being able to return to “normal” in person services. We have so much to be thankful for!
Our Strawberry Festival kicked off the season with excitement and celebration. Our goal was to just host it and break even… much to our pleasure, we did just that and more.
Please take the time this fall to pause and reflect on what fantastic fellowship our special little chapel offers and encourage friends and family that may not have had a chance this summer to attend – to come back next season. We welcome everyone!
God Bless Us all and prayers for Peace on Earth,
Laurie Wright

We have been very blessed in the past to have been able to contribute to our community in such a special way.
Let’s help local families in need with food and supplies!
Dear Friends of the Chapel:
I am sure some of you have already heard, but it is with great sadness to report that Bob Perrelli passed away suddenly.
Fr. Bob was an integral part of the Holloway Memorial Chapel community for many years. He was one of our favorite speakers at our Sunday Worship Services and a Dear Friend. He will be sadly missed.
We extend our thoughts and prayers to his family during this difficult time.
Following is an excerpt from St. Joseph’s University Parish:
“It is with deep sadness that we must share the news of the passing of Father Robert J. Perelli.
We received a phone call Tuesday evening around 8:00 p.m. telling us that Father Bob Perelli had passed away unexpectedly. He was found in his condo. The cause of death is, as of yet, undetermined.
Father Bob served as a weekend assistant at St. Joseph University Parish for over twenty-five years. He was a fascinating preacher and helped an incredible number of people in his career as a psycho-therapist.
Funeral arrangements will be made by Father Bob’s religious Congregation of Jesus and Mary, the Eudist Fathers, and his family. We will keep you informed of the arrangements as they are finalized.
Please keep him and his family in your prayers.”
THE ANNUAL STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL RETURNS
The Annual Strawberry Festival will kick off the season of celebration and fellowship on:

This will be a fun event for all ages with a simple silent auction fundraiser. Be sure to purchase your tickets early from one of our trustees and please bring all of your family and friends!
Thank you for your patience as we restart our season after two (2) years of shutdowns.
Holloway Memorial's Annual Strawberry Festival is Back!
Being able to get together in person once again is sweet for members of the Holloway Memorial Chapel in Crystal Beach.
The historic place of worship will be hosting its first in-person event since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 when they gather at the Buffalo Yacht club just down the street on Point Abino Road for its annual Strawberry Festival.
“Our last festival was in 2019,” said Anne Peters, the festival chair. “We had almost 400 people come. Everyone looks forward to it.”
Funds raised through the event help maintain the 128-year-old chapel and keep it operating throughout the summer season. This year’s festival takes place June 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the yacht club, located at 1007 Point Abino Rd.
Festival goers will be able to sample ice cream, homemade cookies, team, coffee and, of course, strawberries. There will also be a mini silent auction and raffle.
“This is our only fundraiser,” said Laurie Wright, president of the chapel’s board of directors. “It’s more of a social event and we’re very excited to have everyone back together in person.”
The past two years were difficult with no in-person services at the chapel. Instead, services were held online, Wright said. Pandemic restrictions resulted in the closure of cross-border travel for much of the time.
But the chapel was in good hands, thanks to the Canadian members of the board of trustees, she added, with one member, Mike Bonner, taking care of things.
“He treat’s the chapel like it’s his baby,” Wright said, adding that Peters and her husband, Sandy, along with Cathy Messier, all of who are trustees, were indispensable and “kept a watchful eye on the chapel property while many of us were not able to travel to Canada for the summer.”
The chapel is home to weekly non-denominational services with different speakers each week and hosts visitors from both sides of the border. The first service for 2022 takes place June 19, will feature Rev. Tom Yorty (Ret.) from Westminster Presbyterian Church in Buffalo.
Tickets are $8 in advance, or $10 at the door. They can be purchased in advance by calling Peters at 905-894-2840 or at the Ridgeway Farmers Market, which runs Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dear Friends of the Holloway Memorial Chapel:
It is my great pleasure to announce that our worship services will once again be in-person! We are so pleased to be together in our wonderful little chapel along Lake Erie.
We have a few new speakers joining us for this upcoming season. I would like to thank Sarah Pictor for all her hard work lining them up. I am personally asking you all to attend as many services as possible to show your support of our beloved chapel. Please ask someone you know who has not attended before to come along with you. We will host three (3) coffee hours this season: June 19th, July 24th (this will be "Bring a Friend Sunday") and September 4th. It will be wonderful to see old and new friends and share some fellowship!

Dear Friends of the Holloway Memorial Chapel:
An Easter Blessing...
This is the season of the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ! We have so much to celebrate with spring upon us and new beginnings. I love the Hallelujah Chorus and all the celebratory music that signals the end of Lent. Every Easter, my father would buy my mother, my sister and I an orchid corsage to wear to church on Easter Sunday. To this day I LOVE orchids. Easter morning meant a delicious breakfast of eggs and sweet pastries with a bite of chocolate from my Easter basket before church. I couldn’t wait for the coffee hour after the service to see the bright colored tulips and daffodils on the table. Between the music, food, and colorful flowers, it made me feel like something special had happened. Indeed, it did and we all look to this new beginning every spring!
The Chapel is planning to have in person worship services this season along with our beloved Strawberry Festival. The threat of closures still looms but, I am keeping a positive attitude that we all will be together again this season. Please all pray for this too – we have a strong power in numbers with our prayers!
Look for our mailing at the end of May or beginning of June and be sure to check our website https://hollowaymemorialchapel.org often for updates and messages. We will need volunteers for the Strawberry Festival, Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022. Please consider helping with setup, strawberry cutting and serving. It will be a BIG celebration to all be reunited again!
God Bless Us all and prayers for Peace on Earth!
