The Chapel is now closed for the 2024 Season! Thanks for your Support!
Thank you to all who came out to celebrate our Quasquincentennial (125th) Anniversary on Sunday, July 28th 2019!
We had an beautiful day and a full house for our celebration. Many couples who were married here at the chapel attended along with some who had been baptized in our special little chapel.
A special Anniversary Service, under the direction of Rev. Dr. Robert Perelli took place along with a special Music Program under the leadership of our Chapel Organist, Barbara Cosby in conjunction with Garrett Martin of Westminster Presbyterian Church and four musicians from the BPO. The service was conducted under a tent on the Chapel grounds with a reception and cake cutting following the service.
Thanks again for making this such a special occasion!
A gift request to
The Chapel holds a special place in both the history and contemporary life of the Ridgeway community. It has served as a place for reflection, as a touchstone with faith, as a celebration for couples beginning life together and honouring lives well lived. This year marks the 125thanniversary of serving the Canadian and American residents of the area.
The Board of Trustees is considering a permanent recognition of this milestone year by improving the front entrance area of the Chapel to provide ease of access and an expanded gathering place following Sunday service. The current surface is of varying and uneven materials and is unable to accommodate attendees following services. A project plan in development would replace the current materials and expand the area covered with stone to provide a larger gathering space with a more even surface. The surrounding landscaping would be removed and updated.
The Chapel hosts many wedding ceremonies throughout the summer and off-season. Updating of the entrance will be attractive to prospective couples considering the Chapel for their special day
The Board of Trustees of the Chapel is diligent in managing operating expenses and financial reserves to assure the Chapel continues to stand strong to serve generations to come. To accomplish the entrance project, the Trustees are seeking to raise the funds prior to committing to construction. The estimated cost for this improvement is $12,500(Canadian).
An early outreach to some selected friends of the Chapel has provided an encouraging response with several significant gifts pledged toward this financial goal. With a 125-year-old building there is a continual need for repair, maintenance and improvement. Based on the response received from our supporters and friends the Trustees may be able to give consideration to additional improvements.
The Chapel Trustees welcome gifts of any size as well as significant gifts to lead the challenge of reaching and exceeding our goal. Please consider a gift to assure the Chapel remains a vibrant part of our summer community for future generations.
